Simulation in health directory launch

11 September 2012

SimNET is a new, online portal of simulation resources including a database designed to drive health innovation and expand the level of simulation used to facilitate learning in the health sector. SimNET will launch at SimHealth 2012 in September.

The web-based Simulation in Health Directory (SHD) is the first of its kind in Australia and will provide a search and share resource for simulation programs and providers in the healthcare sector.

The launch of the directory is the first phase of the development of the Simnet.net.au portal which will provide a valuable interactive resource enabling inter-professional relationships and the sharing of simulation education resources.

The project is part of the Health Workforce Australia's (HWA) Simulated Learning Environments (SLE) program which is helping raise awareness of simulation training opportunities and expertise in the areas of clinical training, research and patient care on a national basis.

HWA initiated and funded the project through the Australian Society for Simulation in Healthcare (ASSH) and Simulation Australia. A national survey of SLEs completed by ASSH in May this year revealed 147 on site simulation providers in universities, TAFEs, hospitals and other health facilities across a number of health professions.

What are the benefits for SLE providers?

Inclusion in the directory is free and provides SLE providers with the opportunity to interact with health professionals by providing an opportunity to promote specialist SLE services, expertise, facilities and training capabilities.

What are the benefits for the simulation community?

The directory is the one-stop location to find information regarding SLE programs, providers and courses in your region.
