Converting PDF files to images

26 February 2014

We've just upgraded the Chirp content management system used by all our websites to enable PDF files to be uploaded where previously only an image was accepted.

This means that when you upload a PDF file, for example with a news item or while editing a page, the first page of the PDF will be converted into a thumbnail, and a larger version for zoomed display.

The upgrade may also enable upload and conversion of other multi-page or multi-layer file types, and CMYK formatted files will convert automatically to RGB for display on the website.

This is an experimental feature so please let us know if there are any problems.
